I was the site manager for the development of this pharmaceutical warehouse and offices for Rosemont Pharmaceuticals Ltd which is based in Leeds city centre. The client had planning permission to extend their research and development department on an old neighbouring industrial site.
On the ground floor was a laboratory for the R&D department of the client’s organisation as well as offices and a welfare area on the first floor. The first stage of the project involved demolishing the existing structure including disposal of Asbestos and other unidentifiable chemicals.
Another challenge of the demolition was the need to avoid disturbing the life sciences lab situated directly at the site boundary. The structure consisted of steel columns and hollow core concrete slabs covered by a corrugated roof. The cladding comprises insulated sandwich panels, curtain walling and large aluminium windows.
A raised access floor was also installed in the offices, and a power floated and sealed concrete floor in the lab area. In addition, we installed a high-tech electrical fit out as well as extensive heating and ventilation systems.
